Traditional Monte Carlo game

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen" is the traditional welcome address at the beginning of the annual Monte-Carlo Game at Hotel Leitnerbräu.

This event does not only attract some 50 gamblers from the Mondsee region, but also an increasing number of visitors.

"Nothing happens without risk. But without risk, nothing happens either"
(W. Scheel)

The rules in brief:

In 2 rounds, the respective gambling tables purchase 32 cards (14 pair cards, 4 single cards) by auction. The money taken in is then devided into 30 equally high amounts and allocated to the cards again. 2 blanks make the game exciting!

During the French wars, the occupying soldiers introduced the game. It was named after the Monacan casino village of "Monte Carlo".

Each gambling table is a unit. In former times, a guild was allocated to each table. This very day, there is a bankers' and a lawyers' table.
