Austria's steepest steam cog railroad has been leading up to Schafberg from St. Wolfgang from 1893. In 40 minutes it covers a difference in altitude of 1,190 m, on a total length of 5.85 km.

Schober (1,329m) and Frauenkopf (1,303m) summits:
Both peaks offer unforgettable views of the various lakes, hills and mountains in the Salzkammergut area.
Departure point is the car park beneath the Wartenfels ruins.
A forestry road leads up to the ruins, followed by a rather steep forest trail and a rocky rope climb (steel rope) in the end.
Surefootedness and a head for heights are required!

Steep forest trail which can be rocky. Suitable only for experienced hiker. Offers stunning views of Lake Mondsee and Schafberg.
Departure point is St. Lorenz, at the Gasthaus Drachenwand inn.
